SURNAME CHANGE

Abstract

A parent can switch the order of his or her surnames and apply to have them reversed in the entry registering his or her marriage. If there are any children of full legal age, they must be notified so that they can submit any statements they see fit in connection with the modification, or non-modification, of their surnames. But this change has a two-month deadline from the time the change is registered. After that deadline, the children can file for a surname-change proceeding.
