COMPENSATION, TERMINATIONAbstract
Compensation is terminated after the imbalance created by a separation or divorce ceases to exist. Legislation specifies four causes that put an end to such imbalances and enable compensation to be terminated: the cause originally motivating it; remarriage of the recipient; marital cohabitation with another person; completion of the period or term for which the compensation was originally arranged (in temporary compensation payments). The Act of 2005 included the fourth cause indirectly in article 97.1 of the Civil Code, based on the temporary nature of the payments involved.
