Abstract

In this paper the author analyses the various sources of law in Nicaragua and the value and efficacy thereof. Sources may be constitutional (the Constitution), primary (laws), secondary (regulations issued by the executive branch) or tertiary or subordinate, such as custom. Custom must be proved. Proof of custom in Nicaragua may be given through two court rulings or three notarial deeds accrediting the custom. The value of scientific doctrine as a source of law is also analysed.
