FORMS OF WILLSAbstract
The Convention on the conflicts of laws relating to the form of testamentary dispositions is in force since June the 10th, 1988 for Spain. This international Convention contains common legal provisions on the conflicts of laws relating to the form of testamentary dispositions, and so a testamentary disposition shall be valid as regards form if its form complies with the internal law of different Laws, as e.g. the Law the place where the testator made it, or of a nationality possessed by the testator, either at the time when he made the disposition, or at the time of his death. This legal framework guarantees the international movement of a valid testament. In that way, the Convention makes life easier for people having international business and interests. The Convention applies to the form of testamentary dispositions made by two or more persons in one document and so, the Spanish legal provisions contained in the Spanish Civil Code concerning the Law applicable to all types of the form of testaments are now non in effect.
