LAND REGISTRY ENGLAND AND WALES

Abstract

The registration law of England and Wales is engulfed in a process of change and has been ever since the approval of the Land Registration Act of 2002. The object of the reform is to strengthen the role of the Land Registry in real estate transactions, with the ultimate goal of having all such transactions carried out through the Registry in future, to the detriment of the system of unregistered transactions that still persists for part of the territory. The object of this paper is fundamentally to analyse the new law, the Land Registration Act of 2002, to determine the heading that English registration law is currently following.
