Abstract

Respect for the patient’s decision not to receive medical care does not mean action contrary to the law, the rights of third parties or to good clinical practice. The exercise of self-determination of the patient regarding an intervention over their own bodies covered by the Act does not justify  the imposition of manda- tory transfusion  against his express wishes.
