Shaping the organisational structure of cooperative societies: reference to the aspects of the organ of the aministration that require urgent

Abstract

The article comprises two main parts: the first covers the overall composition of the general assembly, governing council and intervention board. The second contains an analysis of the governing body, which, in the author’s opinion, requires urgent reform concerning its flexibilisation, dispersion of the coop chairman ’s power, greater professionalism and enhancement of the governing councils ’ oversight capacity. The idea is ultimately to contribute to modernising cooperatives ’ governance so that their management is more participatory and efficient.
